Converting fractions to ratios
A fraction a/b can be written as the ratio a:b. To simplify, divide both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD). For example, 6/8 simplifies to 3/4, giving the ratio 3:4.
The ratio represents a comparison between two quantities. A part-to-whole interpretation of 3:4 means 3 out of every 4, while part-to-part means 3 of one kind to 4 of another.
