How the grams-to-cups conversion works
Grams measure weight while cups measure volume. To convert between the two you need the ingredient density — the weight of one level US cup of that ingredient. Dividing the gram weight by the density gives the number of cups. For example, 250 grams of all-purpose flour at 125 g/cup equals exactly 2 cups.
This converter includes 28 pre-loaded ingredient densities sourced from the USDA National Nutrient Database and widely used baking references such as the King Arthur Baking Company weight chart. You can also enter a custom density if your ingredient is not listed.
Cups = Weight (g) / Density (g/cup)
For example, 200 g of granulated sugar at 200 g/cup = 1 cup.
Tablespoons = Cups x 16
One US cup equals 16 tablespoons.
Teaspoons = Tablespoons x 3
One tablespoon equals 3 teaspoons.
