The percent increase formula
Percent increase is calculated as ((new − original) ÷ original) × 100. For example, going from 100 to 150 is ((150 − 100) ÷ 100) × 100 = 50%.
If the new value is smaller than the original, the result is negative, indicating a decrease rather than an increase.
