How the teaspoons-to-grams conversion works
Teaspoons measure volume while grams measure weight. To convert between the two you need the ingredient density expressed as grams per teaspoon. Multiplying the number of teaspoons by the density gives the weight in grams.
This converter includes 13 pre-loaded densities for the ingredients you reach for most often: salt, sugar, flour, butter, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla extract, cinnamon, cocoa powder, honey, olive oil, water, and yeast. You can also enter a custom density for any ingredient not on the list.
Grams = Teaspoons x Density (g/tsp)
For example, 2 tsp of salt at 6 g/tsp = 12 grams.
Tablespoons = Teaspoons / 3
One US tablespoon equals 3 teaspoons.
Cups = Teaspoons / 48
One US cup equals 48 teaspoons.
